Breast Cancer
Survivor
Ms. Adelina
Biagtan (53, Philippines)
On
June 26, 1997, I went to Philippine General Hospital for
a biopsy test of my breast. I brought the result to a
resident doctor. "Do you know what POSITIVE
FOR MALIGNANT CELLS* means?" the doctor
asked. "This is cancerous!"
Biopsy
test was taken at Department of Pathology, College
of Medicine, University of Philippines, Manila.

"This is what I`ll do, I`ll
start you on cobalt therapy by Monday. After one month
of treatment, we`ll have to perform surgery no matter
what the result will be." I was shocked with this
diagnosis. I felt fear running through my bones. I
dropped by the hospital chapel to pray before I went
home.
I was in tears when I got home. My
children run to me when they saw me crying. After
they`ve found out the truth, they also cried with me.
Deep inside I know I`ll be cured through God`s healing.
With this, my family started our daily prayer together.
After a month or two, I was still hoping that
the findings were wrong. I went to see a certain doctor
named Dr. Equette (St. Agnes Clinic). He said that my
cancer is in advance stage and I need to be operated on
and get a chemotherapy treatment. He asked me to bring
P25,000 (Philippine Currency) in the soonest time
possible in order to start with the treatment. He was
planning to remove the whole breast and replace it with
some leg muscles. I was uncomfortable because that will
mean 2 incision.
Next, I went to a Chinese
herbalist in Roxas Blvd. He prescribed some crystal
nature herb for me to drink and crystal oil to put on my
breast. Unfortunately, nothing happened.
I was
still looking for a doctor who would advise me not to
have a surgery. I went to see another doctor in East
Avenue. He told me it was necessary to undergo surgery
by November. I didn`t heed his advice, neither did I
went back to see him.
There had been a
constant pulsating sharp pain for several days from the
breast cancer. I had been having sleepless nights.
On
October 14, 1997, my husband brought home a box a China
No. 1 Tian Xian Liquid. I started taking the
medicine. The medicine was a little bit sweet and
bitter. 2 days after, the pulsating pain subsided. One
week after taking Tian Xian medicine, I noticed the hard
lump began to soften. A few days later, abscesses began
forming similar to boils. When it came to a head, not
one but several heads, the tender skin broke and pus
began flowing out.
After a month, Nov. 12,
1998 of taking the Tian Xian Liquid, the surface areas
of the cancer was a big lesion. Initially, while pus
continues to come out daily, there was a minor bleeding.
Later on as the days progress, bleeding became profuse
and so with the pus. By December 1997, the wound was so
sensitive that, a little touch on one surface would
cause the pus with blood to squirt out of the nearby
skin. It continuously flowed out like a fountain.
I
placed a handkerchief over the wound every night. I
usually lie on my back when I sleep and don`t turn
around. Amazingly, I found the covering full of
solidified pus and blood stained every morning. The
blood was very fresh red like that of a freshly killed
pig. This made me doubt the effectivity of the medicine.
I only realized that this process, ripening the mass of
cancer, was good when I was cured. Of the 1.25 inches of
lump, a depression like a hole in the middle was
beginning to appear. The pus and bleeding, although now
there was reduced bleeding, continued until I became
anemic.
One day, I lost consciousness and was
rush to the hospital. Because my blood level was low, I
was given a blood transfusion. This was on January 1998.
I had to receive new blood because of the blood loss I
incurred the past few months. At the same time, the
doctor required that I take radiation therapy for the
open wound in the cancer. I agreed to proceed with the
cobalt radiation treatment. During this time, bleeding
became lesser, though the stench of burning tissue and
pus was there.
Before each cobalt treatment, I
ask my sister to clean the wound with anti-bacterial
medicine, hydrogen peroxide (Agua Oxinada) and
supratool. Everytime I have cobalt treatment, I have to
raise my hand and be exposed to 5000 watts of treatment.
My skin became darker. I slowly recovered from the
radiation burns.
After a week or two, I felt pain deep inside.
But the doctor told me that it was okay. I was
on antibiotics and had to take morphine tablet
to control the pain. The morphine tablet caused
me much dizziness and I immediately stopped taking
it. I completed my cobalt treatment on March 3,
1998, without any interruption for one-month (every
Monday to Friday). The doctor was surprise at
